Knurled thumbscrews (15/08/14)

Here's a simple trick for making little knurled thumbscrews from a standard socket-head hex cap screw (Allen). I first turned a small knurled disc from aluminium rod and reamed a 6mm hole down the middle, then turned down the head of an M4 cap screw until it was a tight fit in the hole and glued it in with some Loctite 290. The end result is rather nice, and enables the screw to be tightened as normal using an Allen key if high torque is required.
